The Bachmann Collectors Club is pleased to reveal that its next Limited Edition model is this BR Mk1 BSO Brake Second Open ‘Laboratory 10’ in BR RTC (Original) livery (39-800K). ‘Laboratory 10’ was converted from Mk1 BSO No. 9236 and was fitted with a generator and traction control equipment. This former brake vehicle was re-numbered RDB975428 and joined the Railway Technical Centre (RTC) fleet based at Derby in the early 1970s. The RTC undertook a wide range of testing from the investigation of age-old problems, such as rail adhesion, to the development of new trains, such as the High Speed Diesel Train (HSDT), which is also available from the Collectors Club (35-111K / 35-111KSF). Just 500 OO scale models have been produced, and each is supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The RTC’s colourful red and blue livery is applied to the model superbly with fine printing and lining throughout.
